Okay, my brother borrowed my Nexus 7 and now I am getting distortion. If sounds like my speaker is blown but I am unsure. Is there some sort of audio test I could run to find out if there is an issue?

A few weeks ago my speaker was making distorted sounds. I reset the device and it cleared up the problem. Maybe you should try the same? If it doesn't clear up you may have a blown speaker.
